Tour protocol while visiting U.S. Navy vessels

U.S. Navy ships are very dangerous environments for those unaware of the hazards that are common on them. Please follow the below protocol to ensure your visit is enjoyable and safe. When climbing the accommodation ladder and using ladder-wells and passageways within the ship please watch your step. Ladder-wells are much steeper than your typical staircases. Due to these hazards the below protocol must by enforced for your safety. Cameras are permitted on the tour route.

• No children under 4 years of age are allowed on board.
• No handicap or ambulatory persons, since the ships can not accommodate access or assistance.
• Maximum number of persons per tour is limited to 20.
• No weapons of any kind are allowed on board.
• Do not wear open toed or high heeled shoes.
• Do not wear skirts.
• No running under any circumstances.
• Do not leave the tour group.
• No excess bags including camera and backpacks. A small purse is allowed.

                                       We will NOT have a holding area for these items.

The following are recommended for your safety.
       • Use at least one hand on railings at all times.
     • Walk carefully up and down the ladders, watching for missing treads or slippery spots.
     • Watch for low hanging overheads and piping.
     • Watch for high knee knockers that you could trip over. They are located through out the ship,

        especially at water-tight doors.
     • Watch for equipment attached to the bulkheads that may be sticking out into the passageway.

Since you are touring a U.S. military ship, you may be subject to a search of your personal belongings by security personnel to ensure no prohibited items are brought on board. Please ensure you have a valid government I.D. for positive identification if necessary.
